HIFU (High Intensity Focused Ultrasound) is a safe, non-surgical and non-invasive ultrasound treatment that counteracts the effects of time and gravity on your skin.
As close as you can get to a facelift without going under the knife. HIFU is considered the "work horse" of skin lifting/tightening as it penetrates much deeper than other treatments. No downtime. The energy stimulates both muscle firming and new collagen production.
HIFU uses your body's own regenerative response to gently lift skin on the eyebrow, jowls, under the chin and on the neck making it one of the most sought after solutions for lax and sagging skin.
It works its magic underneath the surface to ensure that you have skin that is firmer, more elastic and smoother.
This process can be used to improve other areas of the body too.
- Non-invasive brow and jowl lift
- Very safe with minimal downtime
- Non-surgical skin tightening
- Most often used on the face, neck and décolleté
- Natural results
- Boosts collagen production
- Ideal for mild skin laxity and sagging
HOW IT WORKS
WHAT TO EXPECT
HIFU delivers focused ultrasound energy to the skin's foundation layer (the SMAS) to help lift and tighten the area without surgery.
This safe and effective clinically proven treatment has been shown to be a safe and effective method of improving skin laxity through coagulation and tightening. The tissue is heated thermally which causes a contraction of the tissue and the wound healing response.
HIFU results are permanent and will continue improving gradually for up to six months following the treatment. After six months, your skin will naturally continue to age, however, HIFU can give you fresher, younger skin for about 12 to 24 months after your treatment. Follow up treatments can assist with the aging process in more severe cases, which vary from person to person, but are recommended every 12 to 24 months to maintain results.
- Up to 3 hour treatment time
- Reddish swelling (gone in 24hr)
- Increased skin temperature (gone in 24 hr)
- Skin may feel itchy (don't scratch)
- If skin blisters or burns, use any anti-scald ointment
Note: No anti-aging treatment is forever. Proper sleep, nutrition and skin-care routine will slow the effects of aging.
Who shouldn't get HIFU?
You shouldn't get a HIFU treatment if you:
Will I need to take time off with HIFU?
HIFU is a treatment with minimal downtime. Most clients resume their daily activities after the treatment, although we do recommend going home and resting after your treatment for the remainder of the day.
Is HIFU a painful treatment?
It is recommended that you take 800 mg ibuprofen for pain relief during your session. CBD taken orally can work wonders too. Clients that have had microneedling before will find HIFU an easier treatment.
Why do some people not see results with HIFU?
Results can not be guaranteed as each persons response to energy will be different, however clinical studies show that around 90% of clients showed a measurable effect within 6 months after their treatment. The ideal candidate is one with mild to moderate laxity.
Can I get HIFU after plastic surgery?
Yes, 8 months after. Many plastic surgeons recommend treating the face with HIFU once healed from the facelift. A facelift pulls the skin tight but does not stimulate healthy collagen production.
Can you treat the eyelid with HIFU?
No. Hifu is ideal for lifting the skin above the brow which will deliver a lifting effect to the lids. Microneedling is the best treatment for the skin directly around the eye.
How to prepare for a treatment?
Stop any medications that thin your blood, as bruising is possible. If you are unsure about whether your medications are blood thinners, please review this with your GP prior to your treatment. Over the counter medications like aspirin, daily large dose anti inflammatories and fish oil supplements may also exacerbate bruising and should be discontinued.
What should I expect after the HIFU treatment? Is there any aftercare?
Here are a few expectations after the treatment:
When do I expect to see results?
There are two phases of correction after HIFU. The first is collagen contracture, which literally is occuring as we preform the procedure. As a result, many people will appreciate a subtle, but distinct, improvement in their appearance within a few days following the treatment. Ultimately, the more impressive correction is from collagen stimulation, which takes place under the surface for the next 90-180 days. Your body responds to the pinpoint thermal injuries placed in the deep tissue by creating new collagen fibres.
How much does it cost?
- Lower face $350
